The Importance of Unique Content on Your Website

Unless you have been hiding under a rock for the past several years, you know that a website will live or die based on the quality of its content. “Content is King” is not just a pithy saying, it’s the gosh-honest truth.

If you are a blogger, webmaster, web publisher or author, or anyone else interested in sharing their views with the world, publishing unique content will definitely get you noticed.

Think about it for a minute… which website would you rather go to:

  • One where the articles you read are the same cold, old garbage you just read at the last site you visited? or
  • A site that offers fresh and unique content, explaining things in a different way, or at least wording them differently.

The choice is so obvious. No one wants to go to a garbage site when they are looking for information to solve a problem or help them live better in some way.

The unique, high-quality site will get more visitors, be noticed faster and ranked higher by search engines, be bookmarked and recommended to friends more often, and be looked at as more of an “expert site.”

For those of you not familiar with the term, an expert site is one that is given a higher credibility factor by Google (and perhaps the others as well). It means you will be ranked higher, and links from your site will have more weight in the search engines.

To a human visitor, recommendations from an expert site carry more weight. That means your product recommendations will be more effective, and even your PPC ads will be clicked on more often. Google’s algorithm will pay you more for them as well.

I hope you see the obvious need to anyone publishing on the web to create content that is easy-to-read, unique, and high quality for search engines and humans alike.
